    A Message From the Principal

Our arts academy programs offer our talented fine arts students and teachers a unique opportunity to achieve excellence in education through a passion for the arts. Our faculty and students continue to work hard, and our assessment scores demonstrate the success of hard work. Our test scores continue to lead the district and be at the top in the area. The quality of our established arts programs speaks for itself as students discover and grow their talents and receive state and national recognitions year after year. General Ray Davis Middle School was the first middle school in the state to earn the status of Green Ribbon School. Our student athletes continue to be role models in the classroom and competitive in every sport. We offer many opportunities for academic, artistic, and athletic involvement after school. We encourage all of our students to get involved and show their school pride.

I have worked in Rockdale County Public Schools for over 25 years beginning my teaching career at Conyers Middle School. I had the privilege of growing as a teacher in the district before moving into the front office. I opened General Ray Davis Middle School in 2006 and served as one of the Assistant Principals until being named Principal in 2016. General Ray Davis Middle School is such a special place. We will continue to work hard and enjoy new and greater accomplishments. We all have a choice to either make things happen, watch things happen, or wonder what happened. My hope is that as a community we can be part of the group that makes things happen by working together, putting plans into action, learning from mistakes, and making changes for a better future the Davis Way.

Our school is named for a great hero and late resident of Rockdale County, Medal of Honor winner General Ray Davis. He earned this medal and many other recognitions for exemplary service to our country. He was one of 94 men — three Georgians — to earn the Medal of Honor in the Korean War. His awards also included the Navy Cross, the nation’s second highest decoration for bravery, two Silver Stars, and the Bronze Star with Combat “V” for valor. He became one of the most decorated veterans in U.S. History. We are proud to be named for such a great person!
